Flavors of Fun!

I just realized I haven't written a blog since the Miss Pacific Beach event in September. I guess that means I must have been busy (- an understatement!) We just had our annual Christmas party a few days ago and it was a blast as you can see by the photos on our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/thepbrealityshow

Before the Christmas party, we celebrated Thanksgiving, and before that, of course, we had our BIG Halloween party. Thanksgiving was very mellow and laid back since I only invited friends and staff members. We sat around a large table having the traditional dinner - laughing and joking around the whole time - sort of a family atmosphere. The Halloween party was EPIC with all the impressive costumes and so many gorgeous girls!!! All you have to do is watch our YouTube video to see for yourself: http://youtu.be/brgCvuNnJLs

Someone asked me what was better - the Halloween party or the Christmas party? My answer was: “Each of these events have their own flavor of fun.” Halloween is fun because you get to be a kid again and dress up as anyone you want. It has a wild, sensual vibe to it and is more of a “crazy” kind of fun. The decorations are more scary giving the castle a haunted feeling. Christmas has more of a “warm-fuzzy feeling.” We light scented-candles and play Christmas music while we decorate. It is more dignified with the more formal attire and the decorations give the castle that “spirit of Christmas” feeling.

In mid-November I sponsored a walk for charity to help the homeless youth of San Diego. It is one of my favorite charities called “PhotoCharity” and is run by a good friend of mine, Jeffrey Sitcov. On that particular Saturday morning I got up at about 4AM to do my daily meditation and all I could hear was pounding rain. I thought to myself - of all the days to be chosen to do a walk - why this one? We were really hoping for a big turnout and I was concerned the rain would ruin it all.

And the rain didn’t quit when I left the house to drive to the Walmart to pick up supplies, then the doughnut shop, and finally to the taco shop to pick up some breakfast burritos. (I made a promise to staff and to those who visited our booth that I would buy them breakfast.) I drove slowly as the rain was beating down around me. I thought to myself - I wonder how many of my staff members will actually show up in this kind of weather. Many members of the PB Reality Show Team are part-time models and models are known to be incompatible with pouring rain.

There was a slight break in the weather just as we arrived to set up our booth at the walk and I was pleasantly surprised that everyone of my staff people, including the lovely models, all showed up. After giving away 150 breakfast burritos and 7 dozen doughnuts and many thousands of dollars of my own to the cause, it turned out to be a very successful day and yet another flavor of fun!

My apologies for not keeping in touch and I will make it my New Year’s resolution to be more regular in my keeping you abreast of all the fun we have here on the PB Reality Show! K?

And The Winners Are....

About a week ago we had our first annual Miss Pacific Beach Contest at PB Bar & Grill which turned out to be a HUGE success! It was nine months in the making and despite some of the behind-the-scenes hiccups and a few last minute staff changes, it went off without a hitch! In fact, many people complimented us about how fun and exciting it was. Even PB Bar & Grill was impressed and told us so. I, myself, am truly proud of how well it went.

Charity Hodges won the Grand Prize and if you saw her overall performance - she deserved it! And so did Tiffany Keller and Rachel Swanson who took second and third. And there were so many others that were beautiful and charming that deserved to win as well. I really felt bad for some of them because in any other bikini contest they probably would have won. It’s just this one had so much competition.

Prior to the contest date, we really wanted our Facebook fans to be involved, so we decided on a judging format were we let them vote for their favorite contestants on Facebook. Then those results would be handed to the official judges on the night of the event for their consideration.

The judging format proved to be so successful that we decided to incorporate it into all of our future contests! A few of our Facebook fans misunderstood the judging process and thought that we would pick the winner solely based on Facebook votes, but then what would be the point of holding a contest at PB Bar & Grill? …and who would have wanted us to choose Miss Pacific Beach from a photo?

Of course, when you have a major event like this with the kind of prizes we were offering, you're bound to get those who didn't like the turn out. Anyway, that kind of stuff happens in the big leagues and this was no “ordinary” bikini contest - it was “extraordinary”...it was the Miss Pacific Beach Contest!

And it is so appropriate that Miss Pacific Beach is named "Charity" since one of her first orders of business will be to attend the walk to help the homeless youth of San Diego at the PhotoCharity event. She will also be hosting our big annual Halloween party this year!

I want to thank all those who made it such a GREAT event - including PB Bar & Grill, all of our fans who turned out and on Facebook, and especially certain members of my staff who stepped up to the plate and made it happen!

Now it's time to prepare for Halloween and see if we can outdo last year's party! Like we say - "The PB Reality Show - it's about celebrating life!"

The Miss Pacific Beach Contest

We are just days away from our first annual Ms PB contest coming to PB Bar & Grill on Wednesday, September 14th and you can feel the excitement building! Last year we had a bikini contest at Typhoon's Saloon and it was such a great success we thought we would take it up a notch. This year I decided to call it the Miss Pacific Beach Contest and instead of a $1000 grand prize, I decided to up it to $3000! Furthermore, I plan to make this an annual event and make it part of the PB Reality Show.

I have to admit the whole process is lots of fun. With all the interviews from all those who want to be contestants and all those who want to be a part of our staff - you know it's going to be a GREAT event!! And my assistants and I are enjoying every minute of it. What's more, it's all being filmed and will be part of the first episode that debuts in January!

Our Facebook page is blowing up and has just surpassed 7,700 fans and counting! Which isn't bad considering we just started our fan page a few months ago! (Apologies for using exclamation marks so often but it's all so very exciting! - There, I did it again.) Anyway, we are always coming up with new creative ways to draw in more fans to our page. The latest one was a big hit. We asked people to tell us their favorite charity on our wall. If they get the most "Likes" they win $100! In addition, I give their charity $100 as well. Of course, I give away far more to charity (as you can see at www.pbmillionairecharity.com) but this is just a clever way to get more fans and they get paid for helping their charity and their charity gets paid as well. I would call that a win-win-win situation!

The whole idea is to get as many fans as possible so when the show airs in January, we already have a fan base established. It's called "pre-marketing." The big established movie studios do it when they come out with a major film. However, with the advent of Facebook and Youtube, what we are doing is rather cutting-edge as far as reality shows go. We will have a good-sized fan base when the first episode is released - which to my knowledge no one has ever done. In other words, we give you little sneak previews on Youtube and Facebook that help you understand the concept and give you the general vibe of the show so when it actually airs we will have a large and eager viewership.

So welcome aboard all you new fans! And look forward to episode one in January! K?

The Pumpkin Patch

A few months ago I bought some pumpkin seeds that were from an eight-hundred-pound pumpkin and planted them in my backyard. My intention was to grow some giant pumpkins so that they would be fully grown by Halloween. We could then create some giant jack-o-lanterns and make lots of pumpkin pies just in time for our big annual Halloween extravaganza here at the PB Castle.

If you haven’t heard about our Halloween parties here at the PB Castle, then you should watch our Halloween 2010 video: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXiHWw8WMgE) We take parties seriously here at the castle. (Sounds funny huh? – taking partying seriously?) If Christmas is “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” then Halloween has to be “The Most Playful Time of the Year.” We adults get to be kids again for at least one day.

My staff gets excited just talking about Halloween. It takes at least six weeks just to prepare and decorate. We will typically go to lunch where we will discuss our ideas to make it even better than the year before. Everyone breaks out their notebooks as I tell them my plans. Then I get their input and we put the plan into action. First we go shopping at Party City then and all the Halloween stores. We will checkout every store in the San Diego area just to see what they have - then add more ideas. You see, the fun is not just the party itself, but preparing for the party as well.

Anyway, getting back to the pumpkin patch…about 2 weeks ago we started getting little baby pumpkins on the vines. Those little babies are growing so fast that I decided to start measuring their circumference to see just how fast. Our biggest one so far measured 12.25” around yesterday and measures 13.75” around today. Can you believe that? That’s an inch and a half growth in circumference in one day! There are MONSTERS growing in my backyard!!!

I sometimes have amazing dreams about flying over a beautiful pumpkin patch. It may seem odd but dreams about flying give you a wonderful sense of freedom and exhilaration. Having grown up on a farm in the Midwest, I have very fond memories of pumpkin patches so maybe that explains the dreams.

We decided to let our fans on our Facebook page help us in naming these baby giants by having contests. I had no idea that it would create so much excitement. And since doing so, we have attracted more than 1,000 new Facebook fans!

Thanks everyone! And this year - let’s have the best Halloween ever! K?

A Day At The Races

It was not a typical Wednesday last week. We took the day off and went to Opening Day at Del Mar. It is also known as “Hat Day,” so our lovely ladies met up at the castle dressed to kill – wearing beautiful hats to compliment their beautiful dresses. They walked in one-by-one each looking stunning in their own particular way.

The limo arrived just before ten and after doing a quick photo shoot, we climbed in and headed towards Flavor Del Mar for lunch before going to the track. Inside the limo, music was playing and mimosas were being served, which made the ladies gradually open up.

First, there was Kristen who is classy looking but also the playful one. Then Taylor – she is the sweet and shy one with beautiful blonde hair and blue eyes. Tiffany is a tall, thin, natural beauty and is a little reserved. Elyse is the gorgeous brunette who beams with self-confidence. Then there was Cassandra who is the tallest and most outspoken of the group.

When we arrived at the track, I got a kick out of watching all the heads turn as our beautiful ladies stepped out of the limo and made their grand entrance. We did some photo shoots and then bet on some horses but really the fun was in just being there. It was such a lovely day!

Our motto on the PB Reality Show is: “It’s about celebrating life” – and as you can see by the photos - we certainly did!

Fun On The Fourth...

We started filming part 2 of “The PB Millionaire Present PB” along Garnet and Mission Boulevard this last weekend. I was very flattered by the number of people who stopped and said hello. It’s interesting that we haven’t yet released “The PB Reality Show” but so many people know about it. First, I want to say: THANKS! Thanks for telling me how much you liked part 1 and my much talked about dancing scene at the end. You get it! I wasn’t sure I should release the dancing scene at first. I thought – “what if they don’t get that I’m just goofing?” But you get it! Thanks! Sometimes people don’t get my sense of humor.

I also want to thank the clubs who participated. We showcased World Famous, Nicks at the Beach, PB Ale House, Johnny V’s, Typhoon’s Saloon, The Tap Room, Brewley’s Pint, and Hoboken’s Pizza. We will go back and re-shoot some of these locations with some of our models this weekend. I thought bringing the girls would add a little more spice to part 2 since it’s going to be tough to top the dance scene in part 1. Watch for part 2 to come out in a few weeks.

So on this day that we celebrate our independence, let’s be grateful for this country we live in. Let us be full of gratitude for our founding fathers who had so much foresight and brilliance in making this the “Land of the Free.” Let us also appreciate those who defended and now defend this country making this the "Home of the Brave." Despite our flaws and the foreign policy mistakes we have made in the past (and those mistakes would take up an entire blog in themselves), we still are a great country - "God Bless America!"

Happy 4th of July!!!

It Was A Lovely Luau…

More than a month before our big Luau Party last Friday, my staff and I were at Party City picking out the different decorations. We take partying very seriously here on the PB Reality Show, so we plan our events way in advance. The moment our guests enter the castle, we want them to have an unforgettable experience.

The minute they walked in the door the whole ambiance was festive! From the many colorful wall decorations, to the grass skirt around the table full of party snacks. The toucan balloon was floating high above it all, as the aroma of BBQ filled the air - everyone knew they were in for a good time.

It started off rather mellow as our DJ Winston played the traditional Hawaiian tunes and people gradually started arriving. But by 9:30, the party was in full swing and that’s when all the real fun started happening.

We had an authentic hula instructor give the girls a few lessons before the dance contest started. The ladies looked lovely in with their bikini tops and grass skirts as they practiced their dance moves. Some had hula-hoops and gyrated them around their hips. There was a limbo pole brought out and they each took turns ducking themselves underneath it to the beat of the music.

Outside in the back, our BBQ cook was busy grilling the shish kabobs. The Jacuzzi was full of lovely ladies in their sexy bikinis, sipping on Mai Tais. There were colorful lights draping every which way and the sound of laughter everywhere made it clear that this party was a great success!

As you can see from the pictures of the event - yes, it was a lovely Luau! Our motto on the PB Reality Show is: “It’s about celebrating life!” And, in deed, we were.

Showcasing PB

This last weekend we filmed a tour of hot spots along Garnet Avenue and Mission Boulevard for a new video showcasing PB. It was a blast! The first stop was Tower 23 where they opened up the whole wine room just for us. We tried their cheese plate which included varieties from France, the Netherlands, Wisconsin, and, of course, California. Their wine selection is quite eclectic.

We then went around the corner to the 710 Club, Moondoggies, PB Bar and Grill. The bouncers at Moondoggies are really friendly. It’s a great place to watch your favorite sport on the numerous TV screens. PB Bar and Grill is a local favorite (and that is why we are having the Miss Pacific Beach Contest there on Septmeber 14th). I liked the patio atmosphere and indulged on some of their nachos – D-lish!

We walked up to Cabo Cantina, The Tiki Bar, Bub’s Dive and then all the way up to Longboards. Cabo is always packed and the music is loud which makes it feel very festive. We stopped in at Longboards where the staff was very accommodating. We then went across the street to Hoboken’s Pizza. YUM! As soon as you walk in the aroma hits you. I don’t know what they put in that pizza but it sure tasted good. We then trekked back down on the other side of Garnet and checked out Typhoon’s, Johnny V’s, and even Dr. Love’s. (I’m not telling you what I bought there).

We turned the corner and went to Miller’s Field, the Firehouse, the Green Flash, PB Ale House, and ended up at PB Shore Club - a very popular place for us locals. The view of the Pacific Ocean is right there as you watch people stroll down the boardwalk. The service was fast and friendly. The place had a real PB vibe to it.

Our last stop on the tour was Beachwood. The music there was just was too much to resist and something took over my body as I found myself gyrating to the tunes on the dance floor. My staff was probably embarrassed but I just couldn’t help it. I haven’t watched the raw footage yet but I can imagine it looks like one of those cheesy, outdated 80’s music videos. I once again had proven that white boys can’t dance.

(Watch for the video coming out in the next few weeks).

The Making of the PB Reality Show

Pacific Beach is very unique, charming and beautiful in its own way. It is a very special place with the warm sunshine, the cool breeze from the ocean, and amazing views (in more ways than one). Coming from the Midwest, where the weather is very volatile with an extreme range of temperatures – freezing cold winters, hot and humid summers; I appreciate it probably more than most. So when the idea came about to do a reality show here, I thought it was a perfect way to showcase PB.

Yes, the show is about my lifestyle, the parties and events, etc., but it is also about Pacific Beach as well. When we shoot an episode, for example, we carefully scope out what would look good as a backdrop. And when local residents of PB get to see the show, they will say, “Oh yea, I know where that is…” In fact, when we did a few sneak previews to get feedback from audiences, that was one of the common remarks written down on our questionnaire.

Now I know some of you are wondering why it is taking so long to release the show. Well, all I have to say is that it will be worth the wait. You see, when we first started filming more than two years ago, the concept of the show was much different. Originally, the idea was to make my assistants (who happened to be very attractive) a main part of the show. As much as they were sweet, adorable and very loyal assistants, I felt the show needed a little more drama – to be a little more edgy - to make it more appealing to a younger audience.

Therefore, I decided to sponsor the Miss Pacific Beach Contest (which includes a bikini calendar) that would create a competitive setting amongst all these beautiful women that live here in Southern California who love the lime-light. It is a behind-the-scenes look of the Miss Pacific Beach Contest, as beautiful bikini models compete to be in the contest, the calendar, and ultimately win the title of Miss Pacific Beach - and all the drama that happens along the way. It is the new formula for the show – a much more entertaining show for sure!

In the next several weeks we will release a new video called: "The Making of the PB Reality Show." You will get a glimpse of what we’ve been working on and it will give an idea of what the show will be about. So stay tuned...

Charity

Charity is giving and giving is good. But there are many ways of giving. It can also be in the form of entertainment. An artist who creates a great work, whether it be a painting or a movie, for example, is giving - giving their talent to the world - inspiring, uplifting. A comedian is giving - lightening up someone's burden by making them laugh, and, at least for awhile, making them forget their problems.

It is important to help others less fortunate than ourselves, but just by being who you are - in your element - making yourself happy - living your life - you are spreading happiness to the world.

Your state of consciousness effects the world. If you are sad, you are, in effect, bringing sadness to the world. But there is nothing wrong with that, if that is what you are feeling. It is all a part of human evolution. Those in higher states of consciousness, however, tend to be happier, more loving, more giving, and by having them vibrate that consciousness merely by being in the world, they are bringing joy to the world - giving of themselves - which can be much more valuable than giving just money!

There is tremendous joy in giving - and there is also tremendous reward. When your heart is full of love, it is natural for you to give. Love is the purest form of who we really are. Our true essence is beyond the barrier of our own individual bodies and egos. And when we get in touch with that finest state of who we are - love - then we become love itself. Love is compassion. Love is giving.

A wave of love exudes from the heart and moves across the universe bringing joy to all of our hearts. And then that wave of love comes back to us - giving us even more joy! This is true charity.

Friday Night…

…was a special night. The “Girls of The PB Reality Show” headed down Garnet Avenue on a mission – to sell as many of their calendars as possible, with all proceeds going to help the homeless youth of San Diego. We started at the east end of Garnet Avenue and headed west, stopping at the many clubs and shops along the way.

The girls looked quite stunning in their sexy little outfits - sporting the “PB Reality Show” logo. When we would pull up to a club, it was very entertaining to watch the jaw dropping of onlookers as the girls stepped out of the limo. Looking back, it almost seemed like it was all in slow motion, the way the girls had this sexy, graceful sway as they walked. You could almost see the testosterone rising in the guys watching, as they stared in disbelief.

The final stop was PB Bar and Grill where we met up with more of the calendar girls and had our own section inside to sell even more calendars. The atmosphere inside was both festive and functional. Jeffrey Sitcov from Photo Charity spoke about his organization and how it works to help the homeless youth problem here in San Diego. We also met some Miss Pacific Beach hopefuls who filled out applications and got their picture taken.

In all, we sold 28 calendars for charity and got the word out about the Miss Pacific Beach Contest coming later this year. And in the midst of it all we had a whole lot of fun! Who says charity work has to boring?

The Pursuit of Happiness

Every one of us is in “pursuit of happiness.” The U.S. Constitution even mentions it: “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” But what does “happiness” really mean? We all have our own ideas of what makes us happy. Or, at least, we think we do. Many times what we think will make us happy does quite the contrary. A drug addict thinks that his drug of choice will make him happy, but we all know what happens once the drug wears off. We all have experienced that sort of happiness when we buy something we desire, perhaps even “brand new,” that makes us happy for awhile. But like the drug addict, that kind of happiness eventually wears off.

What we desire will make us happy for awhile, but that’s the funny thing about desire. The Buddha talked much about desire. We can also read about it in the Bible. Even modern day spiritual writers like Eckhart Tolle talk about the mind/ego creating desire.

Maybe we desire a relationship; “When I meet the right person, then I’ll be happy.” Again, happiness is based on a desire that may or may not happen in the future. So what if we don’t meet that person? Or, what if we do, and the relationship doesn’t last? This kind of “hap”-piness based on what “hap”-pens is temporary, or relative, and in much as it can be enjoyable at the time, cannot be relied upon long term.

There is another kind of happiness that is not based on what happens. It always is, no matter what happens. For clarification sake, let’s call it “bliss.” This kind happiness is what all the great spiritual masters throughout history have taught us is true happiness – the bliss of being. Being always is, so this kind of happiness is everlasting. Jesus talked about “life everlasting” – a state of being that transcends even death.

Your true nature in your finest state of consciousness is pure being. The essence of pure being is pure bliss. This is who you really are, now and forever, beyond your physical body. In other words, you are really happy right now; you just don’t realize it. You are too caught up in the relative or physical world that you lost connection with your source - who you truly are. That source is your connection to God (or nature if you chose). When you connect to this source, you not only experience this bliss, but you become very powerful! You might say that you are blessed by God/Nature. Whatever desire you have becomes fulfilled much easier, and with little effort because, in effect, you have God/Nature on your side.

You might remember an experience where you felt this connection. Perhaps it was watching a sunset, or just looking at a tree. You see beyond what is there visually and you sense something deeper - a oneness. You are essentially experiencing the presence of God/Nature. Those of us who meditate, in some form or another, connect with that source, giving us an advantage when pursuing our happiness in the relative world. So you can have it all, both the happiness from within, and the happiness from the fulfillment of desire - anything you want!

I am living proof of all this. I am experiencing the bliss of being in my daily meditations, as well as enjoying the fulfillment of all my desires. Imagine waking up every morning with the means to do what ever you want! What would you do? And wouldn’t that make for a great TV show! Well, it is... It’s called the PB Reality Show - giving the world a front row seat into my life. Enjoy!
